TIME TO HEAL YOUR
ELM TREES
Elms in Australia are under attack from a recently introduced pest - the Elm Leaf Beetle. Once infested, your trees are decimated unless they are inoculated with chemicals to kill the beetles and larvae.

It only took 3 beetle-generations (1.5 years) to skeletonise all leaves which fell within weeks.
HERE'S WHAT WE CAN DO
INJECT YOUR ELMS
They are injected with a systemic insecticide that kills the beetles for a period of 4-5 years to minimise trunk damage. (Not just the 2 years commonly used)
REVISIT THE TREES
Clients whose trees have been treated are contacted and revisited regularly to ensure their elms remain healthy.
DIAGNOSIS
Inspect trees for damage, pathogens and insects that may shorten tree life. Advise and apply remedial treatments and bracing solutions.
Please Note: No bees are harmed by our injection methods as all elm species we inject are wind pollenated

WHO'S OUR GUY
Guy O'Donnell first discovered Elm Leaf Beetle in Adelaide in 2011 and immediately notified the SA Dept of Biosecurity. He later discovered elm leaf beetle in the Southern Highlands (Mittagong) in 2017..
Guy trained as an arborist with RP Denton and Assoc in Essex, UK, the firm commissioned by HRH Queen Elizabeth II for arboricultural work throughout the UK. Upon returning in 1981, he opened a business in Bowral as the first arborist in the Southern Highlands.
Guy treats all elm trees as though they were his own and is very passionate about what he does. He will freely give advice over the phone, believing that he has to give back to people.
Elm Consultants' Guy O'Donnell is employed by Australia's National Trust and is a member of the ISA and Arboriculture Australia.

We have used Elm Consultants since 2013 and are very satisfied with their service. Guy has a fine eye for detail , is prompt, keeps good records of his treatment of our elms and is very easy to deal with. His skills as an arborist have also been helpful in discussing other trees . We highly recommend him into the injections work well. 2023
Jude Mullens, Moss Vale NSW
Guy first treated our beautiful elm trees before we purchased our property in 2019. I first met him when he called in to check on them and this demonstrates his real interest and care for the trees he has worked on.
Guy has always been quick to reply to any query we have messaged him. He monitors the trees through photographs and visits the southern highlands to check on trees in his care.
He loves our trees as much or more than we do and it is reassuring to have him so available to answer any concern we have.

The damage from Elm Leaf Beatle to our two elms has been increasing each year and was getting to a state where we believed it would really impact the trees.
After consultation and treatment by Guy during winter, this Spring's new growth has shown very minor damage on the lower foliage on one tree and virtually no evidence of attack ont eh other. These are 30 plus year old trees and to us well worth saving, so will keep in touch with Guy for further advice and treatment if necessary. 2017
